Annual Madness of Daylight Saving Time of all Kinds

On March 10, 2024, most of the US advanced their clocks one hour for daylight saving time. The change means disruptions in the sleep patterns of over 300 million people. Some have said Benjamin Franklin first came up with the idea for daylight saving time (DST) believing that rising earlier would economize candle usage. Others believe it was adopted so farmers could have more hours of sunlight to work in the field. DST was first implemented in the US with the Standard Time Act of 1918, a wartime measure for seven months during World War I in the interest of adding more daylight hours to conserve energy resources. Congress voted on December 14, 1973, to put the US on daylight saving time for two years. President Nixon signed the bill the next day. /Wiki/
